Chef Frankie T. Ferreira is the heart and soul behind FrankieRamen, Charleston's most buzzworthy ramen pop-up. Born and raised in Newark, NJ, to Brazilian immigrant parents, Frankie grew up surrounded by rich cultural influences that sparked his love for cooking. After moving to Charleston, he found himself searching for the perfect bowl of ramen to no avail. Determined to fill that void, he spent six months perfecting his craft, experimenting with traditional Japanese techniques and adding his own creative twists.

The result? Bowls that “shock the senses” and redefine what ramen can be. FrankieRamen has become a local phenomenon, consistently selling out every Thursday night at the Frontier Lounge. Known for pushing boundaries, Chef Frankie blends his experimental style and deep respect for tradition to create unforgettable dishes like his signature truffle quail ramen and tomato miso ramen with burrata.

Chef Rob Shirley

Rob Shirley, a Charleston native with a lifelong passion for cooking, began his career in restaurants at the age of 16 as a dishwasher. Over the years, he worked his way through both front- and back-of-house roles, managing local landmarks like Rutledge Cab Co. and Harborview Restaurant and Lounge. After several years managing dining rooms, Rob decided to return to his culinary roots in the kitchen. During his management career, he met Frankie, and the two often exchanged ideas for specials and new business concepts. Their shared love for Asian cuisine eventually led to the creation of Frankie Ramen.
